Years ago, a popular newspaper ran a campaign, encouraging people to wear specific colours on each day of Navratri. Today, this practice has almost become tradition. Few recall how this began, and the colours have come to be de rigeur for the festive season. People go to great lengths to get their Navratri outfits—in sync with these colours, of course—in place. We know well, by now, how this can be hurtful to the planet. So we asked our readers how they thought this could be done in a way that’s prettier for the planet. And the suggestions came pouring in.
