Inginious Clothing Co. prides itself on sourcing fabrics directly from the weavers, thereby not only cutting out middlemen but also reducing the carbon footprint from the fabric arriving at their facilities. 

While their first collection did consist of a few pieces in polyester cotton blend, these were discontinued almost immediately. They currently work with Kala cotton, linen and silk, all of it handspun and handwoven, which they source directly from the weavers, who have necessary certifications in place. They use natural dyes, vat dyes and pigment dyes, with dyeing procedures such as mill dyeing, piece dyeing and block prints. The slow fashion brand launches only three to four collections a year, and believes in quality over quantity, promising variety and style.

Another win for the planet are their embellishments and trims. They use coconut shell, seashell and metal buttons instead of plastic buttons, and cotton laces and taffeta instead of polyester trims. In their endeavour to go completely plastic-free, they use plantable seed paper hangtags, and reusable  cloth bags and kraft paper boxes for their packaging.

The primary focus of this brand is to increase the product life, hence adopting circularity. They use easily repairable natural fibers and components, in spite of their added cost. According to the brand, they’ve had no deadstock so far. They do not remove unsold inventory from their website, but add new collections to the existing. The oldest pieces are put on discount before they can become deadstock.

With their upcoming collection, they are partnering with Infinitex, a platform that provides planet positive and profitable closed loop system for fashion brands and retailers. By this, Inginious Clothing is interconnecting sustainability with convenience by adding a scannable QR on the label to each of their outfits, thereby giving the customers an option to either donate, resale or recycle the outfits, post use, at no additional cost.
